Reciprocity

Commitment to Nature.

We are proud and privileged to call Playa Pan de Azúcar (Sugar Beach) our home and with that comes great responsibility. As stewards of this land, we take significant measures to protect and enhance the health of this ecosystem. We share this land and sea with the surrounding wildlife and seek harmony and balance as part of the natural order. With a humble heart and hand, we work to establish ourselves in accordance with all the natural beauty that nourishes our existence.

Our ongoing efforts ensure we are limiting our environmental impact as much as possible, and include:

  • Providing refillable water bottles and filtered water stations during retreats. We do not use plastic water bottles on the property.
  • Using organic, biodegradable soaps and cleaning products for cleaning, laundry, and Guest amenities.
  • Cultivating an on-site organic garden
  • Utilizing best-practices in energy conservation and optimization
  • Organic food (when possible)
  • Composting food waste
  • Permaculture designs to support regenerative growth

Replenish

Inspired by our transformational journeys, The Replenish Ayahuasca Project helps ensure the continued availability of this sacred plant medicine. With the growing awareness and desire for Ayahuasca, and an average cultivation time of four to five years, it’s crucial for more plants to be grown. We support regenerative organic farming initiatives which foster a holistic approach between farmers, soil, plants, and traditions.

Mission | Replenishment & Continued Availability

The Replenish AyahuascaProject helps ensure the continued cultivation and preservation of Ayahuasca worldwide. Our work involves investing in andpartnering with organizations in Central America who share the mission to replenish one of the Earth's most sacred plants through eco-responsible,biodynamic farming.

Purpose | Preserve & Respect

Ayahuasca has transformed our lives in many ways and has inspired us to give back. Having experienced incredible healing, we have initiated a replenishment effort rooted in protecting the traditions and practices used to harvestthis sacred plant. Weare grateful and eager to partner with (and provide funding for) organizations helping to replenishAyahuasca.

Our Principles of Financial Stewardship and Transparency

Replenish is a social enterprise, which allows us to immediately give back and encourage others to do the same. The spiritual, ethical, and practical principle of reciprocity is our guiding light - giving back more than we have received. A portion of Reunion revenues is reinvested to grow more sacred plants.

Our principles of financial stewardship are:

  • After our first year, publicly sharing a report of the use of our finances annually for transparency
  • Working with organizations that hire local labor for farming and ensuring they pay fair-trade wages
  • Investing in high-quality cultivation practices that are environmentally friendly and sacredly administered
  • Ensuring that all suppliers we work with adhere to similarly shared principles of environmentalism and fair-trade standards
  • We are helping to ensure the ongoing availability of Ayahuasca.

"It is time to embrace humanity with my healing, extending beyond the Amazon basin, reaching global expansion, spreading through all the soils of tropical climates, growing in every forest, in every sidewalk, in every house garden. Care about me, harvest me, spread me around, warriors of light from around the world. This is my planetary mission." - The Ayahuasca Manifesto

The Ayahuasca Manifesto

The Ayahuasca Manifesto was written and published under the apprenticeship of Don José in 2011 and has been updated by Replenish according to the specific guidelines therein, "the information and text contained in this work is a gift to Humankind, for which this belongs to the public domain and can therefore be unconditionally copied, reproduced and/or distributed."

Why Central America?

Banisteriopsis caapi (the ayahuasca vine) and Psychotria Viridis (the chacruna leaf) are brewed together to make Ayahuasca. It has been consumed ceremonially by Amazonian tribes for thousands of years. These two plants thrive in tropical and subtropical habitats with optimal shade, high humidity, and access to lots of fresh spring water.

The Replenish Ayahuasca Project is in central Costa Rica. Central America is home to some of the most diverse tropical climates, perfectly fit for the planting, growing, and harvesting both plants.

A Regenerative Approach

The farming practices of our partner organizations are rooted in regenerative practices such as biodynamic farming and permaculture. The key principles are designed to add vitality and richness to the soil and plants without pesticides, herbicides, or other harmful chemicals.  These practices encompass the well-being of the entire ecosystem considering animals, insects, and natural processes.

It is our responsibility to integrate regenerative practices so we can live in harmony with nature. By nourishing the soil and plants and harvesting with gratitude, we can fuel our bodies, elevate our spirits, and open our hearts.

Community, Connection and Consciousness

Our community of heart-centered volunteers and contributors are dedicated to the mission of growing for tomorrow.

Holistic farming practices synergize the connection of the contributors, soil, plants, water, and spirituality to enhance the life force of the crops.

This approach allows Mother Nature to grow nutrient dense plants without harmful inputs like herbicides or pesticides.  By letting the natural intelligence of the planet guide the process, we enrich the soil and enhance the healing properties of the plants.
